Boy or Girl?

LORD-willing, we are coming upon the last month of this pregnancy.  We do not know whether we are having a boy or girl, but not for lack of trying.  When we were first pregnant with Nehemiah and considering whether to find out if he was a boy or girl at the ultrasound appointment, our good friend Laura told us, “Mary knew she was having a boy, so I think it’s okay for you to find out.”  Her words made us laugh and ever since, we have taken the opportunity to find out each child’s sex.

Yet, it has been difficult to find an ultrasound machine here, or a technician able to administer and read the results from an appointment.  The one time Sonja went, the technician told her was not able to tell.  So, this child will be a surprise for us!

What do you all think…boy or girl?  And what obscure, 4-syllable name will follow Nehemiah, Evangeline, and Athanasius (sshhh to those of you “in the know”)?

  1. I think it will be a boy, and you’ll name him either Sabellius after the 3rd century priest/theologian, or Arnobius after the 4th century apologist … if you’re sticking with the “christian theologian” theme ;)

Here’s the vote from our kids
Rory: boy- he’s not sure on the name
    Abram: girl- Greta
Josephine: boy (I asked her boy or girl- and she did think for a minute before she said boy)-Abram (very creative name choice…I wonder where she got it from:)
As for me- based on absolutely nothing, I think it will be a girl! My lips are sealed on the name.

    Harrison:
I vote girl based on the ambiguity/modesty of the female anatomy in your indeterminate ultrasound.
