Evangeline Starts College at Bethel
Having watched her older brother successfully navigate full time college work as a PSEO student during his junior and senior year while earning 54 college credits to boot, Evangeline decided she would follow the same process at Bethel University. But with our family preparing to head back to Africa at the end of this year, she decided that she would apply to live on campus. Since Bethel was my old stomping grounds, I attended several campus visits and the early orientation for PSEO students with her.
There, Evangeline was able to meet her roommate, Grace, pick up her books for classes and get an overall feel of the campus. I was shocked to run into friends that I graduated from Bethel with, Jesse and Rebecca, who also have kids attending now. We reminisced briefly about the days we went to school together.
Sadly, Sonja and I did not realize the specific dates of move in day and were out of town when that occurred. Thankfully, Grandpa and Nana (my parents) saved the day and came to the cities to help Evangeline with moving in. It was an exciting day for her.
When we returned from our trip, we were able to go and visit her with the kids to see how she set up her room (she did an amazing job) and how the first couple weeks of class was going. Evangeline is pursuing a nursing degree and she really hopes she has the opportunity to work with newborns.
PS…I just realized that in the last photo here, I’m wearing a Bethel College shirt from the year 2000, which Sonja would say is par for the course, but tells me that it’s one QUALITY shirt!
