Excuse Me, Sir Edmund Hillary

Climbing can bring great enjoyment.  It gives you a goal to aim for, good exercise, and a sense of accomplishment when you reach your destination (especially if it’s a summit).  So, after we reached the destination for our picnic in the hills last Saturday, we were happy to see Nehemiah make an effort to ascend a small, rocky, 500-foot hill.  In fact, he and an older Chadian boy, Abel, made it there:

Next up was Evangeline and while it took her a little longer, she eventually made her way to the top also:

Of course, like good parents, we had our eyes on them the entire way.  All the adults yelled their congratulations and our conversations carried on.  But then, about 15 minutes later we heard Nehemiah yell, “Good job Athanasius!  Hey Papa and Mama, look at Athanasius.”: purchase Zoloft

Did I say we were good parents in the previous paragraph…yikes!  You’ll notice me in the lower right-hand corner of that last picture, as I performed the fasted uphill, 200-yard dash in sandals that you’ve ever seen.  When I arrived, the Scooter was stranded on a large rock, barefoot, and unable to advance or get back down.  I helped him down, sat him in my lap, told him he was a brave boy, and asked him to not do that again for at least another two years.  He smiled and said, “Okay Papa.”

Climbing…it’s full of adventure!
