One Doctor’s Persecution

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Timothy 3:12)
I am so thankful to the LORD when He challenges me by pointing me to men and women who are living such lives (and often facing persecution for it). One such man is Dr. Matt Anderson, a friend of our family, who has kindly given us insightful counsel and prayed for us in our somewhat uncertain pregnancies.
Dr. Anderson has practiced medicine as an OB/GYN for over 30 years. During that time, he has sought to stand for the precious value of life and the moral calling of a doctor to serve others in preserving it. He has published articles for World Magazine, written on his blog, and shared with other doctors at the hospitals he works with.
Yet, his pro-life stances did not play over well with others. In 2010, shortly after a presentation he made on the Oath of Hippocrates and medical ethics, Dr. Anderson was approached by two superiors and told that he was in violation of his contract and needed to resign or would be fired. Knowing that a firing would initiate an investigation possibly leading to the revocation of his license, Dr. Anderson decided to resign.
After a long search, Dr. Anderson finally found a clinic to continue his practice (AALFA). But, when he asked his old clinic, Fairview Lakes of Wyoming, MN to notify his former patients of his new office, something they were contractually obligated to do. They said they had already done it, which he knew was not true. Dr. Anderson felt he needed to go to court.
It was here where Dr. Anderson’s eyes were opened to a whole web of deceit, some of which was conjured up and propagated by people he knew and worked with. Why? Because, they didn’t agree with his faith. The actual events that were taking place behind his back, how he found out about them, and the judges final decision in the case can all be read in his post: Results of My Arbitration Hearing.
May we all desire to live such godly lives in our work places.
