Fitting Life Into A Minivan
So, how does one go about moving a family of six (LORD-willing, transforming into seven) with all of the clothes, homeschool curriculum, books, toys, office supplies, sporting equipment, etc. up to Canada for a period of nine months? Normally, a moving company or a nice big trailer would do the trick. But, the normal path isn’t always the most interesting and when I saw the price of a U-Haul trailer for one-way to Quebec, I thought, we should try something different.

So, this is how we set out on Tuesday morning in our ’02 Toyota Sienna:
We have one PackRight bag strapped down on the top, while another is suspended off of the back from the back rail of the roof rack. One friend called it our van’s backpack. Here’s a view from the back:
We stuffed everything else inside the van, where the young kids have bags stacked to their feet and the older two actually have to climb over the captain’s chairs to squeeze back to their seats: order Prozac
To my surprise, the kids said, “Thanks Papa for making the van like a jungle gym.” I told them that they still had to keep their seat belts on while sitting in the “jungle gym”.
