Easter Songs
There are so many songs that center around the events of Easter, that choosing a favorite is probably an unproductive exercise. Yet, there has always been one song for me that embodies the paradox of the tomb, life from a place of death, better than any other. From the slow moving verses, which come to a halt and are accompanied by lyrics of death, to the sudden chorus bursting forth with lyrics of Christ’s victory over death. My Mom has always said that I used to wait for the song every Easter, get a big smile on my face when it was included in the service, then crouch down for those slow verses, and finally spring up when we hit the chorus.
Guessed the song yet? Yeah, my favorite Easter Song is “Christ Arose” by Robert Lowry…you know:
Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my LordUp from the grave he arose
With a might triumph o’er His foes
He arose a victor from the dark domain
And He lives forever with His saints to reign order Deltasone Buy Fluoxetine Online Buy Zoloft online
He arose, He arose, Hallelujah, Christ arose
While we’ve sung many Easter songs these past couple weeks, the kids have been especially enjoying one recommended to us by my brother, Joshua. Nehemiah has already rushed it to the head of the class and declared it his favorite Easter Song. It is called “Christ Is Risen” and comes from worship leader Matt Maher.
