Birth: Blood To Beauty

Several months ago, we listened to a message from Ezekiel 16.

It is a passage of scripture that I had never heard before and one that has left a vivid imprint on my mind. I have read it and reread it many times since I initially heard it. Maybe it was the newborn baby imagery and the fact that Hadassah had just been born that made me consider how disgusting we all are when Jesus first looks at us in all of our sin. “When I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, “Live!” I said to you in your blood “Live!” I made you flourish like a plant of the field.

It strikes me how God takes us when we are ugly and disgusting and makes us beautiful in His eyes. It saddens me to see how quickly we take what He has done in us and and act like we did it. May we remember who we were before He picked us up and made us live and may we be cautious of how quickly we turn back to our own whorings and may He always keep us returning to Him when we do.
