Our Friend, Tracy

Shortly after I was bed-ridden with malaria, a good friend contacted us and asked if it would be helpful for someone to meet us in Egypt and assist us with the kids.  What an insight!  When we are surrounded by friends and family, it is easy to ask someone to watch our kids for a night or weekend or even hire a babysitter.  It is a lot more difficult to do those kinds of things when there are only 6-8 individuals who speak your language and share your values in the entire city.

So, we told our friend “we wouldn’t turn down the offer” if she found someone, expecting that not much would come of the good intentions.  After all, who in the world would use their vacation time from work to fly all the way to Egypt and assist with kids?

Well, a few days later, our friend emailed us back and said she had a volunteer who would take a week off of work to join us.  Her name was Tracy.  The first time we met her was when she arrived from the airport.  She was such a blessing to us.  She was an extra set of hands as we went on tours, played games with the kids, and read books with them.  Her sacrifice even allowed Sonja and I to have a few “date nights” together, which were greatly appreciated.

Thank you to those of you who helped Tracy with her plane ticket.  Also join us in thanking the LORD for our friend’s thoughfulness in planning this help, as well as Tracy’s love in serving our family.
