Storm Damage

One great blessing that the LORD has bestowed upon us is our friends Sean and Maren.  Many of you will remember the difficulties we were finding in trying to sell our home five years ago, so we could pay off our mortgage and leave for Africa.  It was Sean and Maren who approached us and said, “If it would help, we will find renters for your home and take care of it for you guys so you can focus on ministry overseas.”  Sean has a lot of experience in real estate and our home has had a renter in it every month for the last five years with almost zero time commitment from us.

Today, we are thanking God for Sean and Maren again as we found out that a large tree from our yard fell over into our neighbor’s yard as a result of the tornado and rainstorms that swept through North Minneapolis order Deltasone this past week.  Apparently, our neighbors want us to pay for the damage to their property.  So, Sean is patiently sorting through the conversations and trying to figure out how to remove this huge tree from our property (see the picture below).  Has anyone else in the Minneapolis area done this before?

A neighbor recently had a large tree fall. They posted it on craig’s list and some men came over and took everything except the “brush” away for firewood at no charge — it was going to be over $1000 from a tree service. Their homeowner’s insurance should cover any damage to their house and property (and the tree removal, I think). Maybe if you ended up getting the removal covered via craig’s list, that would be a bit like having covered their deductable (not that you are required to cover that.)
