Poll Positions
Figured I would use a racing term there for the title, since motor racing can’t seem to get any love from you all. My son greeted me this afternoon by saying, “Papa, 18, 18, 11, 11, 10, 9, 8, 6, 6, 6” to which I responded by throwing out a bunch of random numbers back at him. Of course, he was reading the present standings in his poll by vote total. He’s pretty excited about it.
Here are a couple observations so far:

- I’m in my wife’s doghouse for not including figure skating on this list. If you want to know why I listed so many sports in the first place, it was because I feared that a fan of some obscure sport would email me saying something like, “How can you not have equestrianism in the list?”
- Baseball and football have been neck and neck for 1st and sit tied at 18 apiece as I write this.
- “Other” is presently tied for 3rd with 11 votes. I would love to hear in the comments what other sports people are thinking of when they check that one (figure skating, bowling, water polo, broomball… …equestrianism?).
- Either I have been wrong in assuming that most of our blog visitors are from Minnesota or else we have a state full of turncoats. Basketball leading hockey…c’mon, eh!

I voted for all of the family (including Calvin- with swimming…) hopefully it registered all of our votes. I also voted for Ben’s parents who are visiting. Ben’s mom is under the “other” category for skiing.
