Perpetua Joy Broten
Today, the LORD blessed us with a little baby girl. At 4:46 this morning, Sonja gave birth to Perpetua Joy Broten. She was 19.25 inches long and tipped the scales at 7 lbs. 14 oz. We are so happy and thankful to the LORD for this precious gift. cheap Zoloft Here is a picture of her:
The name Perpetua comes from a woman in the early church. Raised in a family of privilege in the North African city of Carthage, Perpetua came to know Jesus. When it was reported that she was meeting with four other converts, the five of them were arrested and given a hearing, where they would be given the opportunity to renounce Christ and make a sacrifice to the Roman gods or be sentenced to death by wild animals in the arena.
Those threats alone are enough to make one shudder and wonder whether we would stand firm in our faith. But, then we learn that Perpetua was married and had a young child. Imagine all the looks and comments she would have received about how foolish and unloving she would be if she sentenced her child to a life without her mother.
When her own father pleaded with her to deny Christ, she gave this simple yet purchase prednisone profound response:
“Father do you see this vase here?” she replied. “Could it be called by any other name than what it is?”
“No,” he replied.
“Well, neither can I be called anything other than what I am, a Buy Fluoxetine Online Christian.”
Like her namesake, we pray our little Perpetua will cling closely
to Jesus and count all other things as loss compared to the surpassing glory of knowing Him.
