I’ve shared about gifts before and mentioned one thing that makes them special to me is when they come as a surprise.  Another characteristic of good gift giving is when the giver takes special note of something that another person enjoys.  I have a number of friends who have excelled at this.  They paid attention to specific things that interested me and had a knack for finding some unique gift relating to those interests.

Well, shortly after we arrived in Sherbrooke, we started to receive a large manila envelope once a week.  Inside it contained the sports section from the Star Tribune (the newspaper out of Minneapolis, MN).  Anyone wonder who that could be for?  My dad had observed Nehemiah’s interest in sports and statistics and has been taking the time to pull it together each week to send it to him.  So even though we live far away, Nehemiah has a special connection with Grandpa Hovey.
