How To Save A Life

I once heard our pastor share that there was a plaque hanging above his family’s kitchen sink growing up, which held these words:

purchase Zoloft

Only one life, order Prozac order Deltasone
’Twill soon be past;
Only what’s done
for Christ will last.

The words have stuck with me and I often find myself asking the question, “Will this matter for eternity?”  The answer to that question is always, “YES” if you’re doing it for Christ.  It doesn’t matter whether you live in America or France.  It doesn’t make a difference whether you’re working for a church or the city waste disposal.  And God teaches us that this life of faith can be lived by the young and old alike.

So, whether we eat, drink, learn a language, take out the garbage, read a book to the kids, play sports, sing songs, have a discussion with our spouse, or whatever we do, we ought to do it all for the glory of God.  I want that for myself, for Sonja, and for our kids.

Last week, Sonja and I watched a movie called “How To Save A Life”, which looked at the difference a sold out teenager might make if he truly lived his life for Christ.  Here’s the trailer for the movie:
