While driving to Iriba today, I saw this curious little creature crossing the road (you may have to click on the picture:

He was moving strangely as we would slowly put the front and back legs of one side forward three times, as if he was nervous to take the next step.  Then he would do the same with the legs on the other side.  I thought he sort of looked like a chameleon, but I wasn’t sure.  After all, he wasn’t brown while crossing the road in the dirt.  But then he got into the dark green grass on the other side of the road and look at what happened:

Who would have imagined that I would have seen my first wild chameleon in Chad.  I saw many more on the drive up here…the kids are gonna love this!
