Water Delivery
We are blessed enough to actually have one water pipe that comes into our yard in Iriba. Â Three years ago, a well, a pump, and a water tower were installed just outside of town and little by little, they have been adding pipes to deliver this water to the town and people’s homes. Still, most people fetch water from an open well with a donkey and a few plastic containers each day.
Before we left Iriba in July to go with the Hutts to N’Djamena, our water had been shut off for more than three weeks. With almost ten months passing since the last rains, water was growing scarce. Â Thankfully, we were able to hire a guy who has a horse, along with two barrels welded together for a container, in order to deliver water to our house.
As a fun aside, he was insistent that the kids jump up on his horse and take some pictures :-)
Fascinating contrast with your Sommarland post… pools of water vs. cans of water.
