Water Balloons
What simple little devices could bring loads of fun and relief in Chad? That’s right…water balloons. How did you know? Oh, I wrote it as the title in my post. Fair enough. I’m pretty sure Club 4th (the name of the group who put on the kids’ programs) used water balloons for a myriad of activities throughout the week. It was a brilliant idea for the heat in Chad.
Of course, if you want to use water balloons, there needs to be a serious water balloon filling crew:
Let’s see how they’re doing…
Not bad…B+. Onto some simple dexterity exercises:
Funny, I always thought that you put eggs on those spoons. The kids next needed to get prepared for the events that would leave them really wet, so this unique game of “Stand in a line and squish a water balloon over your head” was invented:
They then moved to the main event, a back to back extravaganza which started with the water balloon launcher. Todd, our Global Outreach Pastor, showed the kids how it’s done while we tried to catch the balloons on the other end (not smart):
Athanasius and I gave the water launcher a go:
The afternoon was capped off with a good old-fashioned water balloon fight. Fathers were pitted against the kids with balloons stationed in the middle:
In the beginning, I believe there was a boundary line in the middle which you were not allowed to cross, but you know kids and their imaginations, I think the line started moving:
In the end it didn’t matter, as the dads were an unstoppable force. If memory serves me correct, we constantly had them on the run and hardly got wet :-)
