On Friday evening, August 27th, Sonja gave birth to Lazarus David Broten. I could look at his gentle face all day. He’s so cute!

Sonja is incredible. 14 pregnancies, 9 full term births, and after our 8th child, she looks even more lovely than the day I met her almost 20 years ago. Thank you honey for saying yes to each of our children!

After all the hard work of delivery, it was reasonable for the dynamic duo to take a rest on Saturday.

I asked Sonja what she’d like for lunch on Saturday and she voted for a sandwich from Firehouse Subs. I even let her eat the sandwich on my bed.

Sonja’s friend Christy stopped in to see how she was doing…and hold Lazarus.

Nurses are so good at swaddling babies. Every time I do this, he’s free in about thirty seconds.

Lazarus has a little bit of hair on his head, which reminds us of Evangeline and Hadassah, who also came out with some dark hair.

In between nursing sessions, I got to hang out with Lazarus

Lazarus was kind enough to let us take a picture together with him before we got ready to head home and meet all his siblings.

I remembered how to put an infant in a car seat. Two bonus points for Papa. Truth be told when our first child Nehemiah was born, I couldn’t figure out how to get him in the car seat or the car seat into the vehicle.

Both Lazarus and mom are at home and doing well. Prayers are appreciated for the adjustment period.
