School Always Open

One of the steady staples, in our nomadic lives is school.  It provides a routine for Mama and the kids, which they can settle into quickly when we arrive in a new place.  Presently, Evangeline is reading “Frog and Toad” books, along with the “Little Bear” series, but she is probably most excited about starting Math, which at this point consists of counting to 100 (she makes it to 49 by herself).

Meanwhile, the Bucko (Nehemiah) is reading up a storm.  He has finished the first 9 Hardy Boys books since we arrived (oops, we only packed 10) and is enjoying grammar, math, history, Latin, and spelling, although he may have inherited Papa’s handwriting skills, so he’s had to wrestle with improving his penmanship.  I told him, “We men do the best with what we’ve been given by the LORD.”  :)

Although this looks like it was “staged” (it was not), I actually caught the three stooges for a few minutes all together on the couch (Athanasius managed to sit still with the book for and astounding 2 minutes).

    Sonja,

With all your extra time (ha ha) would you email me and tell me what you have learned about working with your personality in home-schooling? I have been looking for a fellow ENFP to give me the scoop on home school that works for this parental personality AND for the kids….
No hurry on this and if you never find the time to reply, no worries at all. But if you have any thoughts about what curriculum has worked for you and how you have managed to keep a schedule when you are an “N” and “P” I would much appreciate the input. I get your updates, so you should have my email.
