will give you the desires of your heart.

Close, But No Cigar

Where did that phrase originate from?

On Wednesday morning, we received a call form the American Embassy that Hadassah’s passport arrived from the States.  Would Sonja and Hadassah be able to travel with us to Egypt at 2:30 that afternoon?  Hadassah still needed her Chadian visa (which gives you permission to enter, exit, and stay in Chad) in her passport before she could leave.

I scrambled to the Embassy to pick up the visa and try to jump through all the hoops in order to process that visa in 2-3 hours time.  Sonja worked on the packing.  In the end, they told us the earliest they could have the visa ready, was by Thursday morning…the day after.

Ahhhhhh….

So, the three oldest and I set out for Egypt on Wednesday afternoon and arrived here at about 3 AM local time on Thursday morning.  We are praying that Mama and Hadassah will be able to join us early Monday morning, since they still need to get the visa and they are presently on standby for the flight.  After being without Sonja for a day, I am fervently praying.

Here are the three convicts that I am bunking with (Don’t they just look rough?):
