Searching For Treasure

Generic prednisone

When talking about God, creation, the fall, and redemption with people I meet here, it is not uncommon to have a question regarding these subjects answered with, “God is great and only He knows these things.  It is not for me to understand or study.”

I’ve heard this in the States also.  I’ve even used it myself at times when talking about understanding the nature of the Trinity or other subjects.  Of course, the first part is true (God is great and only He knows), but is the greatness and majesty of God meant to discourage me from trying to understand truth?  According to Solomon, it shouldn’t:

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
But the glory of kings is to search out a matter. (Proverbs 25:2)

Rather than discouraging us, the greatness of God and the treasure He has given us in His Word ought to entice us daily to pull out our pick axes and dig…humbly, but hungry.  From the hymn, “Thy Word Is Like A Storehouse, Lord“:

Thy Word is like a storehouse, Lord,
With full provision there,
And everyone who seeks may come, Prozac online
