Henna
Social events here like weddings, funerals, etc. carry their own customs and practices, which we continue to learn about every day. Sometimes our kids are even able to participate. For example, the women here often dye their fingers and feet in the colored powder of a plant for weddings and other important events. The coloring is called henna.
Evangeline did it for the first time a couple weeks ago for the wedding they attended. Fatuma helped her with the process. Here’s a picture of her colored fingers:
