One of my English students is a nomad.  As nomads, his people and family travel year round with their animals, as they find places to graze.  They are usually in the southern part of Chad as the summer rolls around and back up to the north when the rainy season hits.

Noah, my student, has been promising to take the kids to see his family and the camels, sheep, goats, cattle, etc. that they travel with as they return to the north and pass Abeche.  So last week, Sonja, the kids, Noah and some other friends ventured outside of Abeche to meet Noah’s family.

The kids were very excited.  They enjoyed meeting new friends, seeing animals, drinking camel milk (it was creamy), and eating a sheep that was killed for supper.  Here’s a picture of Sonja and Hadassah with Noah’s mother, sister, and nephew:
