Book Review: The Basket of Flowers
Have you ever been accused of a crime you didn’t commit? Have you had people assume your guilt even though they didn’t know all the facts? How should a follower of Christ respond in such situations?
“The Basket of Flowers“, written in 1878 by Christoph von Schmid, was an encouraging read and primer for such discussions in our family. The book centers around a young girl named Mary. Her father, James, is a skilled gardener for the king, and uses the flowers in his gardens to teach Mary about beauty, sin, humility, and the LORD.
Those lessons are tested one day, when Mary is falsely accused of stealing, a crime punishable by death. Many urge her to confess to the crime for a lesser sentence, but her father always taught her “It is better to die for the truth than to live for a lie.”
What will be the outcome for Mary? Order the book and read it to found out…you will not regret it!
always appreciate the recommendations! Thanks! I am sure the girls will enjoy the new book for school.
