Last year, the kids and I enjoyed Sarah S. Baker’s story, “Amy and Her Brothers Prozac online “.  Written in 1860, Baker’s book tells the story of a family of orphaned children trying to survive after losing both their parents.  Amy is the eldest of the siblings and works her hardest to look after the family.  The book recounts all their struggles with debt, trying to keep their home, and looking for food to put on the table.

The best part of the book though is the dynamic between the older and younger brother of Amy.  One brother decides to lay down his own dreams to take up work and support and look after the family, while the other brother just wants to get out of town to follow his dreams.  Which brother actually achieves more…read it to find out.  If you have boys and are wanting to teach them the value of honor and work ethic, this is a terrific story to read.
