Parole de Vie Bethel, the place where we are studying language, also has a Bible school.  During the winter, the school hosts numerous winter camps for different ages of high school and junior high students.  The events are planned and carried out mostly by the Bible school students as a part of their outreach and evangelism practicums.

The winter camps include speakers, testimonies, hockey, broomball, campfires, etc.  But the craziest event of the weekend is the Saturday night polar plunge for all who are willing.  At freezing temperatures of about 0℉ outside, a large tank is filled with cold tap water.  Any willing campers, Bible students, or even language students jump in as loud music plays and people cheer.

Who would ever do such a thing?

Well Justin Hutts was the first brave soul among our friends to accomplish the feat last weekend and he described buy Prozac online it like this:

As I stood on the edge of the platform in my wool socks, swimsuit and swim cap I thought to myself, “What in the world are you doing, Justin?”  Without much thought (obviously) I jumped. My breath vanished. Goosebumps raised on my skin.  It was as if I were in middle school camp again.

Then, last night, Kerry and Lindsey (pictured above) took the plunge with their “Let Chad Be Glad” shirts on as a way of celebrating Kerry’s birthday.  Kerry even tried to goad yours truly into participating with this great email:

Jacob, just a reminder that you have one last chance to prove your fearless leadership by taking the plunge tonight. No pressure intended, of course. I’ll still respect you and believe that you have some measure of love for your friends.  I just wouldn’t have to believe by faith if I could see it with my eyes is all I’m sayin’. :-) Did I say no pressure? :-)

To which I calmly replied:

Kerry, my leadership is fearful.  My love has limits.  And just in case you don’t believe me, I’ll let you see it with your eyes tonight as I sit up in my nice warm apartment, while you all are freezing yourselves to death.  Best wishes :-)
