I walked into the house one evening last week and noticed Sonja hunched over praying with Evangeline, who had tear lines marking her face. I gave them each a hug and figured Sonja would tell me later if she thought it was important for me to know. I probably should have known.
It’s the part of our lives that really never gets easy…saying goodbye.
When Tristan and Valérie, Evangeline’s first violin instructors, found out that they were expecting their first child, their ability to continue helping Evangeline changed. Yet, in the LORD’s goodness, our friend Kerry arrived on the scene. Little did we know, but Kerry played the violin…and was good at it. She told us that she would love to continue Evangeline’s lessons with her.
Evangeline has cherished that weekly time together with Kerry. Beyond violin, they have prayed together, gone out to a cafe, and had tea parties with other girls. Evangeline’s tears were flowing that night because she knew that she had to say goodbye to Miss Kerry for now.
