Searching For Stoves

While in the capital waiting for our vehicle and all of our proper licenses, Nehemiah and I are also on the lookout for a gas cooker. Yes, it’s true that my wife, Fatuma, and Kendra have been cooking over coals for the last month, so this expedition could also be termed “Searching to Save Someone’s Sanity”. Originally, I had planned to buy one in Abeche, but the 4-5 stoves I saw in town all had broken oven doors or a range burner that wasn’t working.

In this part of the world, a range and oven only run on gas bottles (no electric models here), so the ovens come free-standing and are connected to those gas bottles by way of a rubber tube and a regulator. Coming from the States, most of the stoves here look very skinny. In fact, when we first came to this part of the world, Sonja couldn’t fit many of her pans into the oven.

We spent a couple hours today walking down a street that has a number of shops selling stoves, looking at the various brands, and asking about their prices. Their were models from Japan, Turkey, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. The prices ranged from $280 to $1,200.

We returned home to do some internet research. I’m glad we did this. A few models turned up zero information (that’s how popular they are) and one manufacturer had complaints of exploding gas cookers (yeah, we’ll be avoiding that one). After serious consideration, we are down to three finalists:

Buy Fluoxetine Online

Ferre ($300-$500 out of Turkey)

buy Deltasone online

Beko ($1,000 out of the UK)
Super General ($1,200 out of the UAE)
Stay tuned for the final decision to come later this weekend!
