Sunny Side Up

My favorite way to eat eggs is sunny side up.  It started when I was a kid.  In Roseau, my dad and mom would drop me off for early morning pewee and bantam hockey practices (around the ages of 10-14).  Because the time between the end of hockey practice and the beginning of school was short, many of us would stop at the “The Guest House” on the way to school and grab a quick breakfast.  Almost every morning, I would order two sunny side up eggs, toast, and hash browns, with a glass of water for less than $3.

I’ve been hooked ever since to dipping toast in those runny, yellow yolks.

What a treat it was today when my 8 year-old surprised me by whipping up some sunny side up eggs for me for breakfast.  As if it wasn’t already enough that she makes oatmeal, pancakes, and scrambled eggs on other mornings, now she’s actually catering to specific preferences.  Thanks Dolly…they were delicious!

Kiandra…you just named another food I love for breakfast. We have to wait to enjoy some bacon when we visit the States on furloughs though, as it is not readily found here :-(

My favorite way to have eggs is over medium. I flip ’em, turn the burner off, and get them on my plate as soon as everything else is ready. Sometimes they turn out over hard. Blue berry muffins are another favorite.

Jeremy recently enjoyed the “best Men’s Breakfast” he’s ever been to. One highlight was a fruit salad with fresh kiwi, oranges, and pineapple.

Do you all get any fruits that are local to your area? Anything we don’t have in the states?
