Sonja has put together a pretty ambitious program for the kids’ literacy. Her main goal for the first two years of their lives is for to read lots of books to them, while teaching them to sit still and pay attention. At 2, she starts to teach them phonics and letter recognition. Then at age 3, she begins “How To Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons” and each of the kids have usually completed that book and are reading sometime around their 4th birthday.

Hadassah is the latest entrant into the literacy program and she is cruising along. Though our family’s move out to Iriba delayed her progress some, we hope to see her completed with the book soon and beginning to work her way through those early readers.
