Feeling Patriotic

We happened to be in N’djamena over the 4th of July. While I’m not a lover of big crowds by any means, the simple curiosity of what happens at a foreign embassy during a celebration of independence lured me in. That and Sarah Hutts was claiming this was the one activity she wanted to take in before delivering Baby Hutts, so we joined their family for a July 4th celebration.

The embassy grounds were decked with red, white, and blue.  There were snacks like mini hamburgers and chocolate chip cookies to eat.  There was even a small band playing some favorite numbers “you’re a grand old flag…”.

The kids were able to visit in English with some kids, even though the majority of the program was in French and Arabic (that was weird).  Here’s Nehemiah sharing a chair with another American friend, Daniel:

And it’s not every day that you get the chance to have your picture taken with active military officers:

We even found the time to squeeze a family photo of our crew (although the night time makes it a bit grainy):

All in all, it was an enjoyable experience for us to remember and celebrate the independence of our country in a foreign land!cialis liquid online
