Hair Care
As I’ve shared about our buzzes purchase Prozac before, I’ve mentioned the companion I’ve kept close by ever since college, the trusty electric razor. It makes haircuts for me and the boys rather simple. But, what about the ladies? How are a beautiful red-haired woman and several growing young ladies to maintain their hair in the desert without spas and beauty salons?
Well, the truth is…they don’t. Or as Sonja describes it, they try to help their hair survive with occasional washings, an infrequent trimming (for the girls), and the application of a petroleum jelly-type concoction that Chadian women use to strengthen their hair here. At this point, I’m wondering why I’m the one writing this post (Sonja just explained to me all the ins and outs of what happens to hair in a dry climate like this). Suffice to say that Chadian women’s hair has adapted over the years to this climate and has a natural toughness to it, which Sonja and Evangeline’s hair does not yet have.
So, whenever we ever have the opportunity, we send the ladies out to do some hair care (the LORD knows it wouldn’t help the men’s hair much). This past week, Sonja and Evangeline enjoyed a nice day out together getting their hair done. Look at those curls:
