Planting Lemon Trees

We plant trees for the fruit they give to us. That fruit might literally be something we eat, or it can be the shade and aesthetics it provides to our yard. As we shape our home more and more to be a welcoming sanctuary where we can have visitors and find rest as a family, we were hoping for a little bit of all those things someday from a couple lemon trees that we purchased in the community garden along the wadi (a wadi is a dried riverbed, which fills with runoff water during rains in rainy season).

We got some advice from a friend who’s done this many times before and dug a small hole.

Then, we cut away the bag that the tree came in, straightened the roots, and put the little tree into the ground, giving it plenty of water.

In a sad ending to this happy little post, the next day some goats climbed over our wall and ate the lemon trees.  So, we’ll have to give it another try someday soon :-)generic cialis best price

Goats gotta eat too, I guess. Thanks for sharing this story, despite its sad ending. We will be praying that you find a solution to make your compound a wonderful, welcoming place in the near future. Praising God that you guys are continuing in joy despite the destruction of your fine plants, unlike poor Jonah.
