Visiting The Clinic
Yesterday, the next Broten baby was about 20 weeks gestational. It is growing and kicking and we are thankful for the Lord’s sustaining hand on it’s little life.
On the medical side of things…we are so thankful to have friends that are midwives and doctors and are willing to come alongside us in this pregnancy. While we were in Amsterdam, I saw my friend Margit who assisted in Hadassah’s birth in 2010. She had brought her doppler and found the baby’s heartbeat at 13 weeks. Another friend, Kerry, has recently gone through midwifery training in the States and is now in Chad! She lives along ways a way but she has been willing to check in with me about how things are going. And of course we have two competent medical professionals that are working with us here that I am able to ask any questions as they arise.
I also have a blood pressure cuff here and a tape measure to measure my belly, so I gave myself prenatal exams at 16 and 20 weeks…I mean, it’s not too difficult and we’ve been down this road a couple times:) It gives me a lot of joy to be pregnant here and share this part of life with the ladies. In order to do that to its fullest, I try to do some of the same things that women here would do. A couple weeks ago, I went to the clinic in town. Here are a couple pictures of the facility:
There is a nurse who is available on Mondays and Thursdays. You show up and wait until it is your turn to see her. My neighbor, Hawai, went with me and we sat for three hours on the benches. I really enjoyed talking with the other women who were waiting and related to their stories of constant trips to the bathroom, little sleep at night, and being hungry:)

Yesterday I went to explore whether there was an ultrasound machine in town. After waiting four hours, I was able to have an ultrasound on an old machine. More than the medical benefits of the ultrasound, I benefited from the times sitting with the women and being apart of them.
The baby seems to be doing fine (as far as I could tell from the fuzzy screen) and we are praying for ways that the Lord might allow us to deliver this baby here in Iriba. Please pray with us along those lines.cialis online 20mg
