Peterson Package
A visitor to Iriba delivered a package to us from Abéché. You see the mail service stops there in Abéché, so the only way a package makes it all the way to us is when a colleague (or we ourselves) are passing through Abéché and can pick it up and bring it the rest of the way. One day, we’ll start up a Pony Express.
The delivery was well worth it, as our friends, the Peterson Family (technically three families), sent a beautiful package. The highlight for Sonja and I were the pictures of a couple firstborns (congrats Matt & Katie and Josh & Carrie) and the letters they wrote to accompany them. The kids loved looking at the pics as well.

One funny “Chad” moment as we opened the package was when we arrived at a bag of individually wrapped chocolates (a favorite of mine). The bars had actually all melted together so that the wrappers were immersed in the chocolate itself. Here’s what it looked like as we still scraped away some chocolate out of the deal :-)

One gift was taking her to the movie with Nehemiah. Sonja also got her the outfit that she’s wearing in the kitchen. Lastly, we gave her a new thin line ESV Bible :-)
