Our first stop during our time back in the States was to visit our friends in Phoenix, AZ. As it is almost every day of the year there it seems, we were greeted by outstanding weather and the kinds of trees you don’t really see in Minnesota:

So, what’s our relationship to Arizona you ask? After our departure from our first country of service back in 2009, we spent about six months at our former organization’s offices there, while we tried to plan our next steps. During that time, the LORD graciously placed us at a caring church there and surrounded us with many like-minded believers who really encouraged us in a season of uncertainty. We still consider them like family today and though it’s a bit of a haul for our family, this was our 2nd time back out to AZ to visit these friends. We were able to share about what the LORD has been doing in our family with the church at large and also over meals with many of them.

Another huge blessing that surprised…our friends the Schoenbachs moved themselves and their kids out of their own house to stay with their parents for six days in order to invite us to enjoy their home. We’ve never had that happen before. Here are some pics of the pad:

Our children were able to enjoy several days of swimming in the Schoenbach’s backyard pool and still keep up with some studies in between the meetings. We also loved the their intentionality in wanting their kids to hear about what life is like in other countries and some of the realities involved with serving the LORD in these places.
