Visiting Refugees

Around our town of Iriba, there are three refugee camps with 50,000+ refugees from Darfur, Sudan living in them.  The UN and other aid organizations aim to supply these people with basic needs of food, water, shelter, and education.  It is a hard life, but they are safe there from the fighting that has torn apart their homeland.

Over the years, I have done a lot of work in these camps training teachers to improve their education system, as well as providing them with English classes.  Every once in a while we try to visit these camps to see some of those students.  This past week we had the special privilege of visiting Attayib, Amuuna and their neighbors in one of those camps.  We enjoyed drinks, a small meal, and hours of discussion together as we listened to their stories and shared some of ours while the kids ran around with one another.  Here are some pics from the afternoon:
