I knew it in early 2002, but I had taken my time (okay, only six months) and had picked this moment, while we were on an overseas service project, to ask Sonja to marry me. There, at the Samagat Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, after showering for the first time in two weeks, I nervously told her about how much she meant to me and pulled out the ring that her sister had helped me pick out before we left on the trip. Thankfully, she said yes :-)

Today, we celebrated 19 years of marriage with a dinner and Christmas lights show. Marriage is such a wonderful gift and I love what God has given to us Sonja. Thanks for saying yes then and everyday since. Here comes 20!
