Elihu Broten

On August 7, my brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ira Broten, welcomed their first child into the world, giving our kids their 5th cousin and delighting us as uncle and auntie again (YEAH…never gets old)!  Their little son, Elihu Anatoliy Broten, and mother Ira are doing well.  Congrats Joseph and Ira and thanks family for the texts.  We were sleeping with our cell phones in bed at night waiting for the news.

As for the Baby Broten whom presently resides in Sonja’s womb, all bets are on the table.  Papa’s guess for today (August 10th) has almost passed, while Nehemiah’s hypothesis (August 11th) is fast approaching.  Evangeline is all about watching Mama suffer, so she selected Sunday (August 15th).  Mama may be the odds-on-favorite, since she is most able to influence the outcome.  She has selected August 13th.  Why, you ask?  Well…just call her sentimental.  Seeing that August 13th is not only my birthday, but also my father’s birthday, she figures since we’ve made it this far, why not shoot for three generations of August 13th birthdays.

That would be a lot of cake to eat in one day.

PS……I originally titled this post, “Baby Broten Arrives”, until a woman with swollen feet told me that was too cruel.  Now, instead of flat out misleading the reader, the title is only slightly misleading :)

  1. Ohh… you are so mean! Slightly misleading my foot! Do you know how often some of us check to see if there is any word yet on the baby? Grr… if you were in MN I would come kick you right now. Okay, maybe not. But I would want to. Congrats on your new nephew. :)

  2. Andie says:

    You’re a stinker, Jacob.
However, I do have to say that if we were all thinking carefully, we would have realized that Elihu is not 4 syllables.

  3. Sara says:

I thought for SURE today with the phone call you would have news of a new baby, but I am still sticking with the 13th like Sonja :) Praying for you!

  4. Jacob says:

True, true Andie. Although, the four-syllable trend will be broken with this child! All the finalists for this child’s name are three syllables.
