Thoughtful

Every Saturday afternoon, we go out to a restaurant here in Abeche and enjoy some beans and bread as a family.  Last Saturday, Evangeline wasn’t eating much of her bread (about the size of a footlong Subway bread), but we just thought she wasn’t very hungry that night.  As we started to pick up everything to go, we realized that Evangeline was no longer with us.  We started to look around and quickly saw her at the entrance to the restaurant with a group of kids around her.

What was she doing?

She was tearing off pieces of her bread to give to the children begging outside of the restaurant.  It wasn’t that she wasn’t hungry, she had just decided that she wanted to give them her bread.  I was touched by Evangeline’s gesture and so thankful for what the LORD is doing in her heart as she interacts with the reality of poverty and needs that exist here.

  2. Hi Jacob,
Your blog address was passed onto us a few months ago. I think it came to us from a prayer chain, or church newsletter. Anyway, we are amazed at the work you are doing in Chad and are encouraged by your blog. We’ll continue to keep you and your beautiful family in our prayers.
