Motorcycles are the vehicle of choice here in Abeche.  With the lack of car manufacturing in Chad and high import taxes, vehicles are simply too expensive for the majority of people.  Some people, if they save, are able to purchase a new or used motorcycle.  A few of my English students have one, and one student even put me in the driver’s seat and gave me a lesson (only my 2nd time driving a motorcycle) a couple months ago.

Last week, my friend Abdel Baasit was over with his motorcycle.  The kids love to climb onto it and Athanasius has a particular knack for finding the horn.  They all managed to fit on the motorcycle this specific day and Abdel Baasit gave them a ride around the house.  Here’s a pic:
