Nehemiah Turns 8!
Our oldest turned eight today, so we celebrated as a family by going out to Chuck E. Cheese. I sort of wondered how the kids would respond to games, Games, GAMES after playing in the dirt with small knick-knacks for the better part of the last two years.
While Sonja and the kids went to get a seat, I purchased the Family Special #1 (large pizza, two drinks, and 50 tokens for games). I brought the tokens to Nehemiah and left to find a restroom. When I came out, Sonja had that “Ooohh, did you see that cute baby look” on her face, but there weren’t any babies around. I asked her what she was all sunny-faced for and she said these were the first words out of Nehemiah’s mouth when I left all the tokens with him:
“Mama, I want to bless Evangeline, Athanasius, and Hadassah with these tokens. Evangeline, what would you like to do?”
WOW! Thank you Jesus for what you’re doing in Nehemiah’s heart. We’d love him no matter what he said, but it’s especially heartwarming when you hear something like that. And sure enough, there was Evangeline riding a horse:
Nehemiah had taken Hadassah for a little ride in the taxi:
If you’re wondering where Athanasius is….welcome to the club. We had to send the search committee out to look for him at various times. Once we finally corralled him and explained this wasn’t the Sahara desert with vast areas for roaming, he sat down with the rest of the kids for a little picture:

It was an enjoyable lunch and we thank the LORD for the 8 years He has given to Nehemiah.
Tell him happy birthday for me! sounds like you all had fun.
