Nehemiah’s Birthday Present
So I’ll be honest, most years while we’re overseas, our birthdays are absent of conventional presents. Other than the occasional grandparents’ package that actually arrives, the lack of toy stores in Chad leads us to adapt what our birthday celebrations look like in a way that is devoid of wrapped gifts.
There’s a positive side to that without a doubt and our kids don’t really say anything about a lack of presents because they’ve never been around the deluge of gifts that can be found at a traditional birthday party. Yet, as a father and mother, Sonja and I want to lavishly show our love to our kids (even in the giving of physical gifts).
So, what did we decide to do for Nehemiah’s birthday? We’ve had this particular gift in mind for quite some time and Nehemiah was ecstatic with it. He has had his new Martin guitar out everyday and is already learning from Papa:
