Chadian New Testament
Last weekend marked a great day across the ocean. In the capital of Chad, on April 6, the Chadian Bible Society held a dedication ceremony for the Chadian Arabic New Testament. While there are more than 120 languages spoken in Chad, Chadian Arabic is the language most often used in the northern and eastern parts of the country. It’s hard to believe, but the New Testament in its entirety has never been available to most of these people who may only speak their tribal language and Chadian Arabic.
We heard that the ceremony was very festive. Many people poured years of translation and checks into finishing this. The Old Testament continues to be worked on, but this day was a celebration for the finish of the New Testament. Here’s a picture of the “Injiil Al-Masiih” (that’s what it says in yellow from right to left), which means “The Messiah’s Gospel”:
