Industrial Arts Project
Did any of you take industrial arts in junior high or high school? If so, what was your project? Did you make a birdhouse, a chair, or a table?
I’m back up in Iriba and when I saw this picture, I thought, “I need to share this with my friends”. We’ve begun cleaning up our future home here and preparing it for the family. While organizing items on the roof, I ran into these two beauties:

That my friends is a ladder and a sawhorse…look at them closely. I asked the neighbor who was with me at the time, “Who made these?” He responded, “The man who built the house.”
Um….yikes!
I shared with my close friend Abdulai that these items reminded me of the kinds of things we produced in Industrial Arts class in high school, when we first learning how to handle a hammer, nails, and boards.
Maybe the even funnier fact is that 20 years later, I probably could’t produce anything better :-)
