Desert Rescue
Our friends the Morgans were making their first trek across Chad in their newly purchased used vehicle. About halfway through the day I received a text that they were having car troubles. I half pictured something like this:
…but then I found out that they had simply blown a hole in one tire, but after replacing it with the spare, found out they had been given a lemon with a bent rim. So, I set out with our primary Broten Towing Services vehicle:
Unfortunately, when I realized that they were 4-5 hours away, I figured that I probably needed to get a faster mode of transportation and switched to option number two, the family tractor:
Sadly, this also wasn’t performing quite like I hoped, as the cab of the tractor had a strong greenhouse effect with no air conditioning. So, I ditched it like the first and went with the flatbed approach:
James was so happy when I arrived, he started dancing on his car:
All kidding aside, Abdulai and I reached the Morgans after sunset, got their tire changed and returned to Abeche with their family. We pulled in just after midnight and were able to wish each other Merry Christmas before turning in for the night!
