See You Again

One of the special numbers that was sung at Serenity’s funeral was a song we had been listening to for several months.  We enjoy a lot of Meredith Andrews’ music and really liked this song, “See You Again”, which she performs with Charles Billingsley, when we first heard it this summer.  Little did we realize how heavy the lyrics would hit us as we learned more about what was happening with Serenity.  One part of the song says:

I’ve seen bodies, ruined and frail
Rise in power, completely healed
I want to see it again

We have wept together many times singing this song and we appreciated hearing it in faith at Serenity’s memorial service and believing that it is now true for her.  Here’s the song for you to enjoy:

    Dear Jacob and Sonja,

Wonderful Father is with you as you grieve hard. He holds you, I know.

I also know that his redeeming, bringing-amazing-good-from-suffering power will be knitting inside of you another deeper level of compassion, caring, kindness and goodness that will overflow in the future–in the next couple of years–to everyone in your beloved Africa with whom you come into contact.

May he just keep holding on to you now and carrying you along.

    In care,
    Carolyn
