Ants Ate My Home
The last time we checked in with the termite community, they were chewing their way through our books in Abéché. Apparently, their cousins in Iriba have an appetite for more planks in their diet because when we returned home not only did we find paint chips all over the floor, but we saw this on our living room door:
Seriously, come on ants! Can’t you find something to eat outside? This structure on our door, which was produced as they nibbled away, was not a simple structure. It was 3-dimensional:
I mean, when I knocked it down, I felt like I was destroying the Taj Mahal or some greatly designed piece of art. Sadly, they didn’t even stop there. They also went after one of our bed stands. Wanna see what that looked like? (I’m not actually giving you a choice):
But this last structure completely baffles me, as they scaled our entire living room wall up to the ceiling. I mean, what are they hoping for…some tasty paint chips or cement?
